We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who participated in our 16th annual Dead Man's Ridge Walk, as well as to everyone who came to attend or participate in the unveiling ceremony of the monument honoring the men of the 550th Infantry Airborne Battalion.

Nous remercions chaleureusement toutes les personnes qui ont participé à notre 16 marche « Dead Man’s Ridge Walk », ainsi que toutes les personnes qui sont venues pour assister ou participer à la cérémonie d’inauguration du monument en hommage aux hommes du 550th Infantry Airborne Battalion.

Arrival & parking – Arrivée & parking

Arriving near or in Houmont, follow the signs (size A3) with yellow borders indicating the route to the centre of the village where the hall is located, near the church.

We will not have a meadow for parking. We invite you to park in the streets of the village. Please do not park in front of garages or private property entrances.

En arrivant près ou à Houmont, suivez les panneaux (dimension A3) avec bords jaune indiquant la route jusqu’au centre du village où se trouve la salle, près de l’église.

Nous n’aurons pas de prairie pour le parking. Nous vous invitons à stationner dans les rues du village. Merci de bien vouloir ne pas vous garer devant des garages ou des entrées de propriétés privées. 

Hill 510 - Colline 510

As you can see on the map of the walk, you have the option of taking the “X” route to get from Renuamont to the top of Hill 510, the summit of the famous Dead Man’s Ridge.

Hoping that the weather forecast is clear, you will be able to have a general view of the battlefield: Flamièrge, the wood Bois des Vallets, the fields where the soldiers of the 17th Airborne advanced, etc.

From the new monument in Renuamont to the top of the hill, it is 2.5 km round trip. That is between 30-45 minutes of walking round trip depending on your pace. Also allow some time once you reach the top.

If you start the walk early enough, you will most certainly be able to get there before the inauguration ceremony which will take place at 10:30 am.

Comme vous pouvez le voir sur le plan de la marche, vous avez la possibilité de prendre la route « X » pour vous rendre de Renuamont jusqu’au sommet de la colline 510, le sommet de la fameuse Crête de l’Homme Mort (Dead Man’s Ridge). 

En espérant que les prévisions météo de beau temps se précisent, vous pourrez avoir une vue générale du champ de bataille : Flamièrge, le Bois des Vallets, les champs où les soldats de la 17th Airborne progressèrent, etc. 

Du nouveau monument à Renuamont jusqu’au sommet de la colline, il y a 2,5 km aller-retour. Soit entre 30-45 minutes de marche aller-retour en fonction de votre allure. Prévoyez aussi un peu de temps une fois au sommet.

Si vous commencez la marche assez tôt, vous pourrez très certainement vous y rendre avant la cérémonie d’inauguration qui aura lieu à 10h30.

80th Anniversary - 80e Anniversaire

While we will no longer be welcoming Veterans, this year for the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, more than 40 family members of soldiers from the 17th Airborne Division will be present at the walk.

Thank you in advance for participating in this “80th anniversary” edition of the Dead Man’s Ridge Walk.

Bien que nous n’accueillerons plus de Vétérans, cette année pour le 80e anniversaire de la Bataille des Ardennes, plus de 40 membres de familles de soldats de la 17th Airborne Division seront présents à la marche.

Merci d’avance pour votre participation à cette édition « 80e anniveraire » de la Dead Man’s Ridge Walk. 

Veterans DMRW

We started this event in 2009. The idea was to make benefits to bring back Veterans of the 17th Airborne (+ 1 family member), all of their expenses (flight, accommodation, food, transportation, etc.) being fully covered by the profits from the walks, donations and other actions.

Many thanks to all the people who participated in the various editions of this walk. We have been able to bring back many Veterans of the unit and they all enjoyed their trip to their former battlefield. They never imagined the so warm welcome they experienced in Europe. 

This event also created very strong ties with the Scions of the 17th Airborne, who also helped and supported the walk.

Many thanks also to all the municipalities and all the people who helped all these years. 

Nous avons commencé cet événement en 2009. L'idée était de faire des bénéfices pour ramener des vétérans de la 17th Airborne (+ 1 membre de la famille), la totalité de leurs frais (vol, hébergement, nourriture, transport, etc.) étant entièrement prise en charge grâce aux bénéfices des marches, les dons et autres actions.

Un grand merci à toutes les personnes qui ont participé aux différentes éditions de cette marche. Nous avons pu ramener de nombreux vétérans de l'unité et ils ont tous apprécié leur voyage sur leur ancien champ de bataille. Ils n'imaginaient pas l'accueil si chaleureux qu'ils ont reçu en Europe.

Cet événement a également créé des liens très forts avec les Scions of the 17th Airborne, qui ont également aidé et soutenu la marche.

Un grand merci également à toutes les communes et à toutes les personnes qui ont aidé toutes ces années.

The registration desk in the village’s hall in Houmont will be open from 7:30 am. All participants who have not pre-registered can come there during the whole day. You will receive the walking map, the souvenir diploma and the drink ticket.

Le bureau d’inscription à la salle de village à Houmont sera ouvert à partir de 07h30. Tous les participants qui ne se sont pas préinscrits pourront s’y présenter pendant toute la journée. Vous y recevrez le plan de la marche, le diplôme-souvenir et le ticket boisson.
